AC Installation in South Florida

Homeowners in some parts of the US think about air conditioning as a luxury, but here in Florida, it’s a necessity. The summers here get dangerously hot and humid, and Florida residents need someplace to go to beat the heat. That’s where central air conditioning comes in.

Whether homeowners want to have air conditioning installed in a new home or they want to replace existing units, they need a trustworthy, reliable HVAC contractor.

The Installation Process

Because every family is a little different, so is each AC installation. That said, there is a general process that talented HVAC technicians always follow. Homeowners should feel welcome to ask questions each step of the way, but here’s a general idea of what’s to come:

Experienced HVAC technicians know there is no one-size-fits-all solution, so they always start by scheduling consultations with homeowners. Customers can expect to be asked questions about the size of the home, its insulation levels, and the family’s general climate control requirements.

At the end of the initial consultation, the HVAC contractor should be able to recommend a specific system and offer a clearer idea of what to expect during the next steps. Keep in mind that the information gathered during this appointment may influence the cost of installing the unit and either increase or decrease the initial estimate. Homeowners will be given a clear idea of what the installation will cost before they sign on the dotted line and schedule their appointments.

Unless the home is newly built, the first thing the installation contractors will do upon arriving at a customer’s home is to remove the old AC unit for safe disposal. Talented, experienced HVAC contractors know how important it is to treat customers and their properties with courtesy and respect.

After disconnecting the outdoor cabinet of the air conditioner, the contractors will exercise extreme caution to avoid unnecessary damage to the homeowner’s landscaping. For split-system air conditioners, the indoor cabinet containing the heat exchanger and blower will also need to be removed, and both parts detached from the refrigerant lines.

Before installing the new unit, the AC technician should perform an infrastructure evaluation to check for leaks in air ducts indoors and damage to the concrete or plastic pad beneath the outdoor unit. These and other infrastructure issues may need to be resolved before the new unit can be installed. Repairing the pads beneath outdoor units is much harder once the new unit has been installed.

In addition to checking ducts and pads, the technician may also need to prepare the supply plenum for the new indoor cabinet and check the refrigerant lines. Older air conditioners used different types of fluids, so the lines may need to be replaced.

Technicians usually begin by installing the outdoor unit before moving on to place the indoor components. They connect the refrigerant lines, install new wiring as needed, and prepare to integrate the new AC unit into the rest of the home’s climate control system. The HVAC techs may also need to replace the thermostat.

The final step is a check of the system. The technicians will turn the new AC unit on for around 15 minutes to allow the refrigerant to flow through the system. Once everything is up and running, a contractor will perform a final check and take the time to explain the details of the new system to the homeowner.

Get In Touch

signs it’s time for a new ac

Most people who contact Cooling Services about new AC installations want to get as much out of their old systems as possible. There are, however, some tell-tale signs that it will be more cost-effective to have a system replaced than to continue making repairs. They include:

When in doubt, homeowners can trust their HVAC technicians to offer professional advice. It’s also perfectly fine to ask why these professionals are recommending an AC replacement instead of repairs. Good HVAC companies encourage full transparency.

After repairing and cleaning out my existing unit the company provided me with a quote on a new pool heater/chiller and I have to say , probably the best purchase we have made to date. Can’t say enough good things about the company and recommend them to all!!!

I had a last minute need to have my entire AC system serviced. I needed to have my coils cleaned, the whole system serviced, AC ducts, and vents cleaned for home inspection. I called them YESTERDAY AFTERNOON and they sent a professional two-man crew the next day (today) at 10am to have the whole system cleaned. They were professional, they worked quickly, they were honest about what needed to be cleaned and what didnt, and best of all this was the best price I could find anywhere. I highly recommend and will be using them here on out for all my needs!
